Laughter
- Everyone Needs It!
There
are three engineers in a car; an electrical engineer, a chemical
engineer and a Microsoft engineer. Suddenly the car just stops by the
side of the road, and the three engineers look at each other
wondering what could be wrong. The electrical engineer suggests
stripping down the electronics of the car and trying to trace where a
fault might have occurred. The chemical engineer, not knowing much
about cars, suggests that maybe the fuel is becoming emulsified and
getting blocked somewhere. Then, the Microsoft engineer, not knowing
much about anything, comes up with a suggestion, "Why don't we
close all the windows, get out, get back in, open the windows again,
and maybe it'll work!?"

The
Flu! Doesn't it just suck..excuse the language, but that's the only
word that comes to mind. Fever, chills, aches and pains, light
headedness, vomiting or the "other" end - just FUN FUN FUN!
Can
you tell I am just thrilled with having the flu. I can't get any
work done because I can't sit here long enough to accomplish anything
worth much.
So,
I am just griping in between bathroom breaks. I am sick of laying on
the couch.
The
one thing that I have to say is that I have some great friends!! I
received an e-mail get well and even phone calls from my friend and
my husband asking how I was feeling! My son even cooked me soup!
That
made me feel that much better! :-) I guess being sick isn't ALL bad......
Thanks
guys!!!

Article:"Sir
Maxwell"
Last
summer my husband and I converted a wonderful old home adjacent to
Bates College campus in Lewiston to an elegant Bed & Breakfast.
We've been well received since opening and have had some truely
delightful and interesting folks as our guests. We work hard and we
love this new lifestyle. In our short time in business we've learned
to expect the unexpected and to trust in the fundamental good nature
of people. A true test of that trust came to pass quite recently
after we acquired an added attraction to the homey ambiance of our
inn--an adorable puppy. Mind you, we did our research before choosing
a breed. We wanted a dog that was friendly and good with people of
all ages, one that wouldn't bark too much, one that wasn't too big,
and, most importantly, one that wouldn't shed and wouldn't cause
allergies to flare up. We chose a Shih Tzu and, so far, he's proven
to be true to his breed. Ware Street Inn's Sir Maxwell is adorable
and lovable . . . and very much a puppy at three months of age. In
other words, he's not yet house trained and we keep a close eye on
him, taking him out to do his "thing" at every opportunity.
One morning, shortly after he mastered climbing uncarpeted stairs, he
ran up the stairs to the main floor of the house before I realized he
wasn't with me. Worse, when I realized he was gone, I was barely
fully clothed and had just about had time to quickly brush my teeth
and hair. As I ran up the stairs to find him, I was greeted by one of
our guests--a tall, handsome, quite professional, well dressed,
middle-aged man who was bent over with a paper towel in his hand
attempting to clean up little Maxwell's "accident" (yes, it
was the stinky stuff!) which he had accidentally stepped in! I was
mortified and immediately found the carpet cleaner and a rag to take
care of the matter, meanwhile apologizing profusely. True to that
fundamental good nature, the proper gentleman grinned from ear to ear
and said, "Puppies have accidents all the time. Maxwell is so
adorable. By the way, do you have a room available for my wife and I
when we come up for Parents' Weekend this year?"
I
love people . . . they rarely let me down! Maxwell truly is adding a
new element to our "unpretentious atmosphere" and a new
meaning to the "feeling of warmth and welcome" one
experiences when staying at the Ware Street Inn!
